Below are some recommendations based on questions we are frequently asked from people heading to Ireland. If you have any questions about trips or itineraries before or after the wedding, don't hesitate to let us know!

Getting Around

We recommend renting a car from Dublin Airport — it's the most straightforward option and gives you the freedom to explore the Irish countryside while you're here. You can also fly into Shannon or Cork, but Dublin is the easiest connection. Gloster House is roughly 1 hour 30 minutes from Dublin, 1 hour from Shannon, and 85 minutes from Galway.

🍻 Pubs in Dublin

What time does the ceremony start?

The ceremony begins at 3:00pm. Shuttle buses depart Birr between 1.45pm and 2.15pm, so we recommend hopping on one to be seated in plenty of time.

What is the dress code?

Wedding Day: Black Tie.

Day Two: Summer BBQ. We will be starting the day at Gloster House and continuing the party later in an Irish pub, so please ensure you are comfortable in whatever you are wearing!

Are children welcome?

Our wedding will be adults-only (with the exception of our lovely niece Lena who will be making a star appearance!).

For the rest of you, we hope this gives you a chance to relax and enjoy a night off.

We are more than happy to arrange babysitters, particularly for those travelling. Please let us know!

Can I bring a plus one?

We'd love to celebrate with everyone, but due to space constraints we are only able to host those listed on the invitation.

What will the weather be like in Ireland at that time of year?

Your guess is as good as ours! It should be warm and sunny (Etsy witches, buried sausages and Child of Prague all going well) however in case it is a little chillier, we recommend bringing a light layer for the evenings.

Will there be a bus service?

Yes! Shuttle buses run throughout the weekend for all guests staying in Birr, picking up from your accommodation.

On the wedding day they depart Birr between 1.45pm and 2.15pm, and run continuously back to Birr between 11.30pm and 3.30am. On Day Two, buses leave Birr at 2pm and return at 6.30pm.

Is there parking at the venue?

Yes, parking is available at Gloster House for guests who are driving. Full details to follow closer to the date.

Is there a Day Two?

Absolutely — and we'd love you to join us. BBQ and live music at Gloster House from 2:30pm on Saturday 12 June, followed by Ceol agus Craic at Craughwell's in Birr from 7:30pm.

And as noted in the schedule: Recovery Days in Ireland tend to involve very little recovering.

What is the nearest airport?

Dublin Airport is the most straightforward, roughly 1 hour 30 minutes from Gloster House. Shannon is about an hour away and is a great option for those flying from the US.

What if I can't make it?

We'll miss you! Please let us know as soon as you can so we can plan accordingly.
